Donna Scandurra-DeStafeno Memorial Scholarship Information

                                                                                             The family of Donna Scandurra-DeStafeno will be offering a scholarship to a graduate of the Chester Academy who is pursuing an education in Teaching.
                                                                                   This Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Donna Scandurra-DeStafeno, an outstanding elementary teacher and a remarkable woman,
                                                                                       who accentuated the positive and was an extraordinary example of what one individual can accomplish with a strong commitment to education. Donna
                                                                                  was a devoted teacher for nearly three decades starting at St Columba of Chester, NY, St Joseph’s in Florida, NY, before retiring as a teacher for the
                                                                               Monroe-Woodbury Central School District at North Main Elementary School. Donna was very active in her Chester community, where she was the
                                                                                         President of the Chester Alumni Association for many years. Donna touched the lives of so many students, student teachers, and colleagues alike on both
                                                                                    an educational and personal level. She maintained touch with many of her former students throughout their adult years as she had left an everlasting
                                                                                      impression on them. This scholarship aims to honor her memory by supporting students who are pursuing their education to become teachers. Any high
                                                                                    school senior pursuing a degree in Education/Teaching may apply for this scholarship. Recipients will be chosen based on the merits Donna possessed
                                                                 • Hard Working – Dedication of copious energy toward learning and teaching                                                                        
                                                                • Honesty/Integrity - Honest and consistently demonstrates the highest standards of integrity.                                               
                                                                • Servant’s Heart – A passion to help others in humble acts of service, without expecting anything in return.                      

The award amount will be $500.  This scholarship is a second year scholarship but
your application must be submitted by May 1st of your graduation year
This scholarship will be awarded at our annual Get-Together event. 

The Senior granted this scholarship will receive the award once the following conditions have been met.

	Complete your 1st year of college (2 semesters) as a full time student.
	Register for your 2nd year as a full time student.
	Submit proof of both of the above (grade reports, receipts or a letter from the registar) to the following address by June 15th following your first year.         Chester Alumni Association    P.O. Box 544    Chester, NY 10918
